Due to the fact that most e-mail programs have a limit on the file size that you can attach to an e-mail, we have set up an FTP site (File Transfer Protocol). This site can be used to retrieve files from Independence Press, or to send files to us. It is especially helpful with large files, 1 MB or larger, when e-mail servers won't let you send them directly.

  • First open an Internet browser such as Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.
  • In the address box at the top where you would normally type in a website address, type the following: ftp.independencepress.net You will then be prompted to login. The login information is: Username: press Password: aspen
  • You are now logged into the server. You will see files that belong to Independence Press and can download a file if we have placed it there for you, or copy a file from your computer to the server.
    • To copy a file from the server to your computer, highlight the file in the browser window with a single mouse click, choose edit from the browser toolbar and select copy. Open Windows Explorer or click My Computer on your desktop, and paste the file to a location on your hard drive.
    • To copy a file from your computer to the server, find the file in either Windows Explorer or My Computer, highlight the file with a single mouse click, choose edit from the toolbar, and select copy. Then open the FTP site window in your Internet Browser and choose edit, and select paste. This will paste the file onto the server for our use.

That's it! Either call us or send an E-mail to info@independencepress.net to inform us that the file was placed on the server so we can retrieve it for you.
